Baikal ??-81 Gas pistol
One of recent projects of IMZ designers - civil handgun intended for active self-defence. The pistol is patterned after the legendary ?? (Tula Tokarev) service pistol, mod. 1933. New pistol implements main units and parts of basic model (frame, slide, trigger group) and preserves original historical marks and handling of prototype.
The pistol is chambered for high-performance 9 mm P.A. traumatic Russian-made cartridge with a rubber bullet. Accommodates also gas and sound rounds with a manual reload. Stopping effect delivers a painful shock from a rubber ball, dia 10,2 mm weighing 0,7 g. Effective range is up to 7 m.
Original design of barrel bore excludes firing the bullet cartridges or other ammo with a muzzle energy exceeding 0.5 J/mm2. Any attempt of shooting the powerful rounds provokes a deformation of barrel and destruction of pistol.
The pistol is easy to handle, convenient for carry and reliable in operation.
